BodyCartography Project
Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad create dances, performances, films, installations, festivals and other projects which engage with the vital materiality of our bodies and minds to facilitates a re-enchantment of embodiment, relationship, and presence.
Our work has been presented by Oslo Kommune, Oslo Internationla THeater Festival,nSan Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Weisman Art Museum, Minneapolis, Performance Space 122, NYC, Lyon Opera Ballet amongst other contexts and lives in the collection of the Te Papa Tongarewa National Museum of New Zealand. b
Movement research, somatic and improvisational practice inform the ground of our dance-making and teaching practice. Somatic practice, specifically Body-Mind Centering®, is an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body and consciousness. We are certified teachers of Body-Mind Centering® working internationally and as directors of Somatic Education Australasia in Melbourne., Australia.
This project began as part of residency with dancers and medical students at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis in 2018 and continued to evolve as part of residency in the new medical galleries at the Norsk Teknisk Museum in Oslo from 2020-2022. .
